We’re still not entirely sure how it happened, but on July 3, what had been literally a dream of ours will come true: a song we wrote will be in a Hollywood summer blockbuster movie. DESPICABLE ME 2 (!!!) to be precise. And the song is “Another Irish Drinking Song”, which we wrote back in our Da Vinci’s Notebook days.
For those familiar with Despicable Me (i.e. Just About Everyone), it will be no surprise to know that “Another Irish Drinking Song” will be sung by the Minions (!!!), the main character Gru’s energetic, adorable, gibberish-spouting and accident-prone…uh…minions. More than that we cannot say, mostly because we signed a non-disclosure agreement. But know that knowing what we know, we are SUPER-excited about how “Another Irish Drinking Song” is featured, and we are going NUTS waiting until July 3 to see it on the big screen.
You can also find the original DVN recording of “Another Irish Drinking Song” on iTunes, Amazon mp3, and other fine digital distribution networks, and can listen to on the CD “Brontosaurus“.
Special thanks to our friend Len Peralta for rendering us as Minions (no, to the best of our knowledge we’re not appearing in the movie!)

Well. Guess I gotta go. Who’s picking me up?? And who’s got the keg???
Whoa! Now I really wish I had a Paul and Storm Minion shirt to wear to go see it. It’s already out here in francophone Switzerland, so I might go see it tomorrow.
All! The! Congratulatory! Hug! Pounces! And! High! Fives!
That’s outstanding news!
That is so awesome! Congratulations, guys!
*I* have the keg.
Accident Prone Minions is the name of my Crash Test Dummies Dummies cover band. Oh and CONGRATS!!!
This is amazingly exciting news, and might even get me to an actual movie theater. Sad it’s not Enormous Penis, but as a minion (not the little yellow kind) I’m still thrilled.
This is just plain despicable. And awesome!
Thing is, I hadn’t planned on seeing this. I was worried about how it would hold up to the most awesome first one. Now I MUST see it on opening day. (And I NEVER see a movie on opening day. I have a thing about crowds and like to wait a week or two.)
Also, Congo Rats! Way to go. Having been a fan of Da Vinci’s Notebook and now P&S this is awesome news!
Hey guys –
any chance we could see a karaoke version (sans lead vocal) pop up for sale? There are a number of your DVN tunes that would be awesome to share in my bars… Heck, we can even help you with synched graphics!
(if so, also ponder “Title of The Song”, “The Gates” and “Hot Soup”!)
Wow, congratulations!
That’s awesome, guys! That was one of my favorite DaVinci’s Notebook songs.
Hi would you mind letting me know which hosting company you’re using?
I’ve loaded your blog in 3 completely different internet browsers and I must say this blog loads a lot faster
then most. Can you suggest a good hosting provider at a
fair price? Thank you, I appreciate it!
