In honor of Halloween, we feature our attempt from last year to join the Holiday-themed Novelty Song Hall of Fame. Current inductees include “Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer” and “What Can You Get a Wookie for Christmas (When He Already Owns a Comb)?”‘ but the undisputed champion of all holiday-themed novelty songs is Bobby “Boris” Pickett‘s Monster Mash, a groovy tune about a swinging dance party.
But not every party is a raging success, nor do they all spawn new dance crazes. In point of fact, most parties kind of…well, they kind of suck. At least the ones we’ve been to. And we figured, why would monster parties necessarily be any different?
Et voilà, Lame Monster Party: they fought for their right to party, won, and then squandered it all. (click the little “play” button to hear it.)
Many thanks to Len Peralta for the artwork that not only captures the true essence of the song, but managed to include the tiny nod to Homestarrunner.com. (Can you spot it? Good for you!) Click on the picture to find larger versions.
