One Down, Three to Go

A simply smashing first leg of the UK Tour with Coulton last night in Manchester. Staff was friendly; crowd was excitable and ready to have a great time; our myriad pop culture references seemed for the most part to translate properly; and Paul began his UK whoring in earnest, rocking his new Man U jersey during Jonathan’s set.

Of special note: author/raconteur/famous person/friend of the band Neil Gaiman, by sheer coincidence, was giving a reading last night approximately 400 yards down the road. Never ones to turn down a gift from the gods of chance, we implemented a literary/music exchange program: Neil kindly asked the three of us to perform a couple songs at the beginning of his reading; and then he showed up during Jonathan’s encore and brought the house down with a thoroughly spooky recitation of the second verse of "Creepy Doll". (We’re sure footage of it will show up on the YouTubes soon enough, for those who are interested)

Food tally: bangers and mash, fish and chips with mushy peas, various meat pies and cask conditioned ales, full cooked breakfast (on-train), spotted dick. Tonight we’re back in London (Indian cuisine), and then off to Nottingham. Wheeeeeee!

Thanks for dropping by Neil’s reading last night and turning it into Gaimanfest, it made a fantastic night even more memorable! Glad you are enjoying the English food as well, just reading that made me hungry…

Hey guys, last night was brilliant. It was good to see a room of people laughing hysterically like that.

Thanks for giving me the oppourtunity to help with merch too – it was busy to be sure but we sold lots of extra larrrrrrge t-shirts.

Here’s hoping I see you again in the future.

Hadn’t come across you guys before you turned up on stage with Neil Gaiman last night, and had only come across Jonathan Coulton through Still Alive, but your songs were both great, and a cool start to a book reading!

    Thank you!

Sounds like y’all are having a blast in the U.K. And I’m sure the fans there are *almost* as cool as the ones in Minneapolis.

BTW, I totally plan to take partial credit for the Paul/Storm/JoCo/Gaiman awesomeness that Manchester was blessed with, since I’d emailed him about the Mpls show he came to, gave him my extra ticket, and recruited the other Sharon for merch & she’s friends with him. *grin*

Looking forward to seeing you guys again if you ever get your butts back to Minnesota.

The London gig was truly amazing. Best gig I’ve been to… and I’ve seen a lot of major bands… Red Hot Chili Peppers, Foo Fighters, Pearl Jam, Iron Maiden, Sum 41. But you guys and JoCo where better than all of them!

Thanks for the hug Paul! Made my night =P
My Mom came with me (my ride) and she walked out a big fan of all of you.

    Such an amazing night!

Your gig in Manchester was incredible, I was an instant convert. I picked up Gumbo Pants and have been listening to it almost non stop (Along with ‘Nun Fight’ and ‘Your Love Is’ streamed from your site – I’ll be picking the rest of your albums up as soon as I can.)

Great to meet you both afterwards. Please come back soon!

    Cheers Mate,

The YouTube footage settles it. I don’t care if it costs a million quid, I’m going to be along for the next Paul & Storm UK tour.
