The ninety-ninthth episode of our podcast, Paul and Storm Talk About Some Stuff for Five to Ten Minutes (On Average), is now online.

This week’s episode: continued debate over how to celebrate our upcoming 100th podcast; a Frankenstain’s monster-related challenge, which evolves into discussion of childhood games and toys; Paul incorrectly describes his “buffer size” as his “sample rate;” an Evel Knievel alarm clock idea; Halloween candies and the associations they carry; book recommendations of James Kakalios and Nathan Rabin; Storm continues his analysis of hipsters; and we mourn the loss of Storm’s faithful Jetta.

Adventure Quest Worlds’ 2nd Birthday Event

As has been revealed now, we helped host the Adventure Quest Worlds’ 2nd Birthday Event. This involved our letting them use a couple of our songs—including some previously-unreleased instrumental tracks to use as background music—for a brand new web-based MMORPG. They even made us into ACTUAL GAME CHARACTERS, as well as our friend Jonathan Coulton, whose image and song “Skullcrusher Mountain” make cameo appearances! (see picture)

It was a blast working with ARtix, Cysero and the whole AQ gang; thanks so much for including us as a part of the Mirror Realm!

If you are interested in playing the adventure, go there now!

Also, if you have played the game and followed the link to come find us here, welcome! The songs you heard, “Cruel, Cruel Moon” and “Nugget Man“, can be purchased here, and are also available on iTunes. Sit down, stay a while!

Show #098: Cucumbers Altogether

The ninety-eighthrdst episode of our podcast, Paul and Storm Talk About Some Stuff for Five to Ten Minutes (On Average), is now online.

This week’s episode: We solicit ideas for possible special things to do (or not to do) for podcast #100; we reflect on Acknowledgement Day; a technology deprivation challenge devolves (evolves?) into a discussion of nougat and candy corn; Storm hates cucumbers; the etymology of “cool;” hipster disdain; Storm’s schoolday troubles with a cartoon collection; we recommend some Mamet films and Dr. Demento; and things w00tstockical are discussed.

AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION ALERT: Is there anything you think we should to do mark our 100th podcast? Also, what technology would you choose to do without?

Show #097: The Lost Podcast

as/6/686387708.jpg” alt=”” width=”200″ height=”136″ />The ninety-seventhrst episode of our podcast, Paul and Storm Talk About Some Stuff for Five to Ten Minutes (On Average), is now online.

This week’s episode: special guest James Urbaniak lends us his mellifluous tones for what ended up being two whole podcasts, after a technical error erases James’ audio from the first (nearly complete) attempt. We discuss the infectious nature of the Jesus Christ Superstar original concept album (and contemplation of an all-“Venture Bros.” version of it); working as a voice actor on “The Venture Bros.”; Los Angeles vs. New York; working with and learning form Woody Allen, Sean Penn and Al Pacino; James’s highly successful and completely fictitious jam company; and some fictional battles, including Yogi the Bear vs. Winnie the Pooh, and Rusty Venture vs. Phantom Limb.

As a special bonus, for the truly thorough, we are also posting the original, “lost” podcast—or, at least, the Paul and Storm tracks. If you listen carefully, you might be able to catch little snippets of James coming through our headsets; but for the most part, you will have to just imagine his very interesting and insightful comments. (Though we won’t post it to our main podcast feed, as we are not sadists)

We’re (Sorta, Kinda, a Teensy Bit) in “The Guild” This Week!

So here’s a pretty cool thing…we wrote a song (with lyrics co-written by Felicia Day), a snippet of which appears on the latest episode of “The Guild” this week!

Felicia needed an inappropriate pirate-themed song for her “Festival of the Sea” episode; being no dummy, she knew that was one of our specialties, so she was nice enough to ask us to help write it. The result, “The Pirate’s Feast“, makes a brief appearance in the episode.

And now, you can hear (and purchase) the whole thing!

The Pirate’s Feast

And here’s the episode:

‘Tis “International Talk Like a Pirate Day” Again!

Avast ye!

In honor of the one day each year when geeks of every stripe lift their voices together and assault their families, co-workers, barristas, and other landlubbers with a hail of “arrrrr”s, we’re offering our pirate anthem “The Captain’s Wife’s Lament” as a FREE DOWNLOAD.

Or, if you’d prefer, we can tell ye that YE MUST PAY FOR ALL OUR MUSIC, OR ELSE, and then go ahead and do what ye must.

Show #096: The Dance of Shame

The ninety-sixthth episode of our podcast, Paul and Storm Talk About Some Stuff for Five to Ten Minutes (On Average), is now online.

This week’s episode: we’re in the homestretch on our way to 100 podcasts; the “Big Block Dandies” minion designation is explained; buffs and geeks and enthusiasts and such; the “Water” video project is broken down; we declare our Beatles “desert island” songs; and we recommend some cool stuff and gush about “Mad Men” and are generally white.

New Video: “Water”

Because there just wasn’t enough going on at PAX already, we decided to make a video featuring ourselves, 68 last-minute volunteers, five geek superstars, and a bottle of water.

So maybe it’s not exactly OK Go!, but we’d like to see what they could pull off with an aggregate of about six hours to come up with an idea, plan it, recruit ~70 volunteers and shoot it. (In fact, let’s go ahead and throw that gauntlet down, because it would probably turn out awesome, and we’d all watch it.)

Special thanks to all the volunteers, the PAX Enforcers, Greg Benson of Mediocre Films who shot and edited this sucker, and to Molly Lewis, Kim Evey, Wil Wheaton, Jonathan Coulton, and MC Frontalot for playing along and being awesome.

Did you enjoy the music? Good! We enjoyed making it. So please listen to and/or have it FOR FREES! Just right-click and select “Save as” on the links below (or however it works on your system; you figure it out, you’re grown-ups)…

Show #095: Leeloo Dallas Multipass

The ninety-fifthth episode of our podcast, Paul and Storm Talk About Some Stuff for Five to Ten Minutes (On Average), is now online.

This week’s episode: Storm is back from staycation, and describes the key to “That Vacation Feeling;” PAX anticipation; Paul recounts the nerd hornets’ nest he kicked over after Tweeting his opinion that The Fifth Element is not a good movie, which leads to a discussion of camp in general; Storm’s “fair” experience in a demolition derby .

AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION ALERT: What do you think a “Big Block Dandy” is? Also, feel free to make your case that The Fifth Element is not a bad movie.
