The “Die Hard” of Road Trips

The past two weeks have truly been the Die Hard of road trips: every time you think it can’t possibly surprise you and get more exciting, it does. And machine guns. Lots of machine guns.

We can’t possibly fit everything into one post without boring you to tears, so here are some of the highlights (after the break)

this would be the aforementioned break

Show #084: I Hate Hardee’s

The eightyth-four episode of our podcast, Paul and Storm Talk About Some Stuff for Five to Ten Minutes (On Average), is now online.

This week’s episode: we record our first “mobile” podcast while driving up I-85; Storm vents his long-held anger at the Hardee’s corporation; we grab a number of highlights of our previous week-and-a-half; we revel in our mutual man-crush on Mike Phirman; Paul laments over his sadly-lacking panelist skills, and attempts to re-tell an anecdote he completely butchered on the “Nerdist Podcast“, to mixed results; Storm analyzes his speaking cadence; and Storm’s travel tales of woe.

AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION ALERT: Tell us your airport nightmare experiences.

Mother’s Day 2010

Happy Mother’s Day to everyone! But especially to all the mothers out there. Congratulations on raising your ungrateful children.

To all the sons and daughters: if you’re like us, you’ve forgotten to actually buy your mother a gift, or even a stupid card. Why are we such an idiot? Every year we do this! Dammit!

But don’t worry, Paul and Storm has you covered: give your Mom the gift of song! It’s just like a card—someone else has gone through all the trouble of writing and constructing it, and you get to take all the credit.

For a limited time, we are giving away our “Mother’s Day Song” ABSOLUTELY FREE!

Some Kind of Charity (or Something)

Here is the celebrity charity single by us and Jonathan Coulton (starring a cast of many) we’ve been hinting about all week, which debuted this morning at Rednosenet.com

Atari Spoon Flinger!

Thanks to Luke Blackford we now have evidence that the video game Spoon Flinger (as referenced in our latest podcast) really did exist. But for some reason we can’t seem to find the ROM anywhere…

Show #083: SpoonFlinger

The eighty-thirdth episode of our podcast, Paul and Storm Talk About Some Stuff for Five to Ten Minutes (On Average), is now online.

This week’s episode: we tease our upcoming rednosenet.com charity single; UNICEF, raising money for the pom pom squad, and helping hands for evil; Storm’s childhood moulders away in his car barn, except his bowling patch, a Polaroid, and a Universal Studios guide from 1980; Cylons and Atari Football; and getting tired of podcasting.

AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION ALERT: What arcade game or console/computer game(s) was (were) “forbidden” to you? And describe your lost valuable childhood item(s)?

This week’s episode: we have new recording equipment, and Storm has an awesome desk; we loll around in the doldrums, and discuss how to get out of them; the Red ElvisesNeil Innes and Len Peralta’s Geek-a-Week are praised; instances of correcting teachers (and Paul mostly whines and invokes Marshall McLuhan);

AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION ALERT: Draw us a picture of, and/or describe, your “cool door.” Also, which laptop should Storm purchase? (see poll below)

FudgieThon 2010 FINAL TALLY

Well, you did it, gang; thank you to everyone who was able to donate! We landed the big one and have raised a grand total of

$3,655.06

for the Arlington Food Assistance Center. And remember, they currently have a matching grant from the Feinstein Foundation; so we have in effect raised $7,270.12. You people ROCK!

And finally, as you may recall, every dollar donated converted to a chance to win one of two $100 ThinkGeek gift certificates. The drawing has been held, and congratulations to our two big winners, Rich Graham and Sarah K.

We’re glad that together with ThinkGeek, Arlington Carvel, GeekDad, and the Interwebs, we were able to turn a spur-of-the-moment moronic stunt into a Force for Awesome (which is the name of our Andrew W.K. tribute band)

Show #081: Underwear and Not-underwear

The eighty-onerd episode of our podcast, Paul and Storm Talk About Some Stuff for Five to Ten Minutes (On Average), is now online.

AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION ALERT: Please take part in the laundry-themed poll below.
