Show #024: We Are Frauds

The twenty-fourthth episode of our podcast, Paul and Storm Talk About Some Stuff for Five to Ten Minutes (On Average), is now online.

In this particularly introspective episode: theme restaurants and Storm’s noise sensitivity; etymology and deconstruction; a weekend of increasing geekery, starting with East Meets West; lackeys vs. toadies; a You Look Nice Today-style humbling; and Adam Savage gives us some “Gambler“-style advice.

Featured post-show song: “Tighten Up, Pt. 1 (LP Version)” – Archie Bell & the Drells

Thanks, Denver and San Fran

Our first trip of the year was a pleasure. Not because of the 12-hour travel days. Not because we missed loading 500 pounds of crap in and out of a Chrysler Town & CountryBuy cheap levitra

a>. And certainly not due to a trip to a kitschy Mexican theme restaurant in Denver whose main attractions seem to be despair and the Hershey squirts.

No, it was YOU who made it swing American–thanks to everyone who came to see the shows at the Soiled Dove and Great American Music Hall. Not that there weren’t also a few other immensely cool highlights:

– Lunch at one of our favorite places: dim sum at Great Eastern in SF’s Chinatown

– Participating with BFF Jonathan Coulton in the East Meets West podcast, featuring fun-to-hang-with Tom Merritt and Roger Chang.

– Fish and Chips with Merlin Man and Scott Simpson (and JoCo, but you probably guessed that), which was more entertaining than playing Left 4 Dead while riding a roller coaster. With fish.

– Last but certainly not least, meeting and hanging out with Adam Savage of Mythbusters renown. Turns out there ARE people who are as fun and interesting to talk to as they seem on TV. Who knew?

Next up: Seattle and Portland this Friday and Saturday.

Podcast Sometime Tomorrow

Storm, JoCo, Adam Savage and PaulAch, such a weekend…too much to recap right now; there were some flight delays (Storm had two of them, ick), but we’re finally home again for a few days. But first, sleep recharge the batteries. Tomorrow, we’ll recap the weekend here and record a podcast. Then maybe we’ll get some lunch or something.

So thanks for your patience, and watch this space.

Oh; in the meantime, Adam freakin’ Savage (third from left)

Show #023: Celebrity Fart Widget

The twenty-thirdth episode of our podcast, Paul and Storm Talk About Some Stuff for Five to Ten Minutes (On Average), is now online.

In this rather self-reflective episode: apologies (but not regrets); a new label for our next batch of minions; pondering a decimation; much shilling for Tupperware; mondegreens; fame for fame’s sake; fart buttons; and obscure musical references.

Audience participation alert! Don’t forget to vote in Geek Madness and spread the word; also, a) tell us what single thing you would bring back in time; and b) who these days is likely to be famous for being famous?

If You Can’t Come See *Us* Perform…

Some of you may remember that we used to be in an a cappella group called Da Vinci’s Notebook. And that said a cappella group had a member named Bernie Muller-Thym. And that said Bernie Muller-Thym is a crazy, nutzoid, sick-talented musician.

Well, said crazy, nutzoid, sick-talented musician is performing in a band next weekend in northern VA. The band is called Larry Mediate and the Zen Consultants (awesome band name, guys!), and if you’re within 279 miles or so of the gig it would be worth the trip to go see them. Bonus: thai food!

Details:

Larry Mediate and the Zen Consultants
Friday, January 16 – 7 p.m.
Bangkok Blues

New T-Shirt: We Need Your Help!

We have been thinking about a new t-shirt design for a while, based around the “punch line” of our song “Your Love Is“. The problem is, there’s various directions we can go with it, and we can’t decide which way we like best. So we need the help of our fans, friends and minions. (That’s you, most likely)

Take a look at the following designs (NOTE: These are not necessarily finalized designs, but you at least get the idea). Click on any design to see a larger version…

\"Rebus\" Walken "Coloring Book" Walken Walken Design 3

Now, if you would, please vote below IF YOU WOULD BUY ANY OF THESE SHIRT DESIGNS. To be clear: we’re very happy if you like a particular design, but what we need to know is if you would actually give us your hard-earned money (in these uncertain economic times) in exchange for a shirt bearing the image. You can vote for more than one, if you like; you can also select “None of the Above”; what really matters most to us is that you vote honestly.

Thanks in advance for your participation!
