We’re In a Pixar Movie!

That is, if by “Pixar” we mean “computer animation not actually done by Pixar,” and by “movie” we mean “43-second short film.”

But we couldn’t be more excited if it were a Pixar film; animator Bonnie Rose—some among you may be familiar with her work, as she won the original Colbert Report Green Screen Challenge—has gone and animated our song “If James Taylor Were on Fire“. Check it:

We especially love how she took the time to get the chords and finger-picking correct. Awesome. Bonnie has done other great work as well; check it out, and tell her how great she is.

One Last Newman

ClerksOkay, so we weren’t quite finished; in celebration of Boxing Day (what?), we’ve got one last bonus round of The 25 Days of Newman:

Day 26 – Clerks

At least for the time being, the song is available exclusively at Quick Stop Entertainment (a site sponsored by Kevin Smith; ah, now it makes sense), as a part of their “Holiday Havoc” feature. We’re in some very good company there; check out the other entries, including Jonathan Coulton, Mitchell & Webb, and The Venture Bros. Henchmen 21 & 24.

Now we’re done.

The 25 Days of Newman: Finished!

Thanks, Rand...If you had asked us back on November 30th to describe how would feel tonight, finally having completed this silly, fun, infuriating little project called The 25 Days of Newman, we might have gotten somewhere in the right ballpark, but nowhere near the same section or row of bleachers. In short, we’re relieved to be finished, a little wistful that it’s over, and totally thrilled with the response it’s gotten. In one short month, the theme songs have been played over 36,000 times and counting; to quote Jonathan Coulton, “Suck on that, old media!”

And yet, we’ve indeed come to the 25th and final song in the series; and to continue the strained baseball analogy, we decided to throw you all a little change-up…

GastonThe twenty-firsth episode of our podcast, Paul and Storm Talk About Some Stuff for Five to Ten Minutes (On Average), is now online.

Dexter the Credit Debt Badger

DexterIn the spirit of the season, we’ve got another new song, and we’re giving it away until New Year’s Eve.

We wrote most of this song about two years ago, but never quite finished it off or recorded it; then, earlier this month, we took part in a Masters of Song Fu Holiday-themed exhibition songwriting match (over at Quick Stop Entertainment—thanks, Plumey!), which was a perfect excuse to dust this one off, sand down the edges and slap some paint on it.

It’s basically a rough demo—we hope to have a full-on studio version finished before next December (gotta set aggressive goals if you want to get anywhere in life.) But in the meantime, we proudly present the next big holiday mascot…
