In case you can’t tell by now, we’ve got a lot of these. Here’s a Coulton-only edition.
Is it just us, or does he look a little bit emo in this pic?
The sixth episode of our podcast, Paul and Storm Talk About Some Stuff for Five to Ten Minutes (On Average), is now online.
Well…sort of.
Paul’s recording rig went kablooey, so it was up to Storm to make good on our commitment to our loyal listeners to deliver a new podcast every Monday night…

As mentioned in Podcast #005, Storm and his wife Gillian stare death in the face on their summer vacation. Mostly SFW (one expletive).
Before we head into the weekend, there’s a couple things we forgot to take care of…
First of all, it’s been noted that, while we were at Dragon*Con, our touring buddy Jonathan Coulton was at PAX in Seattle, performing with Felicia Day (from Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog and The Guild). Well, Jonathan’s not the only person who got to share the stage with famous people from the Nettertubes; the audio file below is how we were introduced on Saturday night…

Secondly, we forgot to link to this awesome illustration that Len Peralta did for our latest song, “Cruel Cruel Moon“. Len, as per usual, is awesome.
The new challenge has been issued in the Masters of Song Fu songwriting contest, and it’s rife with possibilities:
"Your challenge is to choose a famous inventor and craft a song proposing a “dance craze” based on either the inventor or one of his/her most well known inventions."
Here we go again, folks…
As you may have heard us mention, we spent last weekend at Dragon*Con—and even though we’ve already talked about it in our last podcast, and posted a movie about it, there’s still plenty more we haven’t really properly covered. So, in no particular order…
It bears repeating: Dana Snyder is the life of the party, and the party starts wherever Dana happens to be.
Most popular costume of the weekend seemed to be Dark Knight Joker. But at least one person appears to have come dressed as Storm (see left).
Ken "Plumey" Plume’s Saturday night film fest is reason enough to come to D*C. Obscure Monty Python productions, vintage GI Joe segments, Action Jackson action figure commercials, Dark Place, and I Hanker For a Hunk of Cheese, just to name a few. And they’re all even better when watched along with 300 or so fellow geeks. Click here to see a picture of those who made it all the way to the end (roughly 4 am).
We got some hang time with Joel Hodgson, Trace Beaulieu and Frank Conniff from Cinematic Titanic, and formerly of Mystery Science Theater 3000. That’s not particularly interesting, necessarily; we just wanted to drop those names like we’re so damn cool.
Sunday afternoon’s "Nuts on the Road" British-style panel/quiz show was a brilliantly entertaining trainwreck experience. Doc Hammer has no "off" button, and it’s a beautiful thing. Paul’s team (Paul, John "Widgett" Robinson and Robert Llewellyn) lost spectacularly to Storm’s team (Storm, Doc and Dana Snyder), though Paul and Widge are currently completing the paperwork to institute a mandatory recount. By the way, does anyone have video of the whole panel? We only got the last 30 minutes or so, and would love to get copy of the first half.
And now, we are afraid we must report some very sad news…the audience at our Saturday concert shattered the record for thrown panties (which, oddly enough, had been held by Atlanta), with 30 pairs. Unfortunately, when packing up that night, we neglected to take them with us. By the time we realized our mistake, the panties had disappeared. We believe they were either thrown out, or are sitting in the bedroom of one very lucky Hyatt hotel worker somewhere. Double-unfortunately, this also means that we didn’t get a chance to catalog them for the Gallery of Thrown Panties. This makes us very sad, especially since many/most of them appeared to have personalized messages. Luckily, we have found a reasonable facsimile of them (see right).
In all, a completely enjoyable experience. Huge thanks to our "patrons," Ken Plume of Quick Stop Entertainment and "Widgett" Walls of Needcoffee.com. Thanks, guys, for sheperding us through the Valley of the Shadow of Geeks, coming out safely (if extremely tired) on the other side.
A good question. One that has been asked before. Several times over, actually.
Now, we ask it of the various attendees of Dragon*Con 2008. Who will win: good, evil, or celebrities?
Now that you’re aware of Paul and Storm Talk About Some Stuff for Five to Ten Minutes (On Average), we thought we’d make note of a few things. The format is still evolving somewhat; but we have developed a few…well, maybe not rules, but…call them “operating principles.” We’re listing them here (and updating them as necessary) so that we don’t have to go back over any of them every time we do the show.
So then; until we arbitrarily change them:
The fifth episode of our podcast, Paul and Storm Talk About Some Stuff for Five to Ten Minutes (On Average), is now online.
In this episode, we recap our world travels, crow about our Song Fu victory, debrief about Dragon*Con, drop some names, Paul tries to quash cool and attempts (unsuccessfully) to clear up the whole “Felicia Day” thing, and the gremlin in Storm’s phone acts up again.
Outro music: “Carry Me Back to Old Virginny” – Tom-Terry Trio; “Stout Hearted Men” – Shooby Taylor

Apologies for those impatient folks among you…the newest Paul and Storm Talk About Some Stuff for Five to Ten Minutes (On Average) episode will go online sometime tomorrow morning (probably late-morning EST); we’re just too tired to edit this thing tonight.
But to make up for it, something else cool will be going online later tomorrow, as well. Trust us, it’s cool.
Thank you for understanding.
